Merningen was originally founded in 2022 by guitarist Tobias and drummer Emil, but soon grew to become what it’s known for today, that being Lorenz on bass and Noè at the microphone.
Our music loosely fits in the Classic- and Hard Rock genre, but is heavily influenced by whatever we’re listening to at the moment. Black Sabbath, and especially their song War Pigs, played a central role in forming the band, as Tobias convinced Emil to jam to said song together when meeting up to play for the first time.

After originally getting friends Noè and Katharina on board for bass and vocals respectively, the band went onto record a semi-successful cover of a popular christmas song. Noè switched to the microphone after Katharina unfortunately, but on good terms, left the band. As the position of the bass player was vacant again, they recruited friend Lorenz, completing the current lineup.
As there is no rhythm guitar to back Tobias up during his nail-biting solos, Lorenz, a trained pianist, took onto playing bass and keyboard simultaneously, to add ambience with epic choir pads during our live performances. Depending on the demands of each performance, Merningen is sometimes joined by singer Sara, sound technician Benjamin and stage hand Aaron.
